In deposit-return states
The receptacle verifies each deposit-eligible container and credits the refund directly to the consumer's wallet, while collected containers flow into the existing redemption system — more participation, with a verified chain of custody.
In non-deposit states
No deposit refund? Containers still have value — but only if scrap buyers can recover them at low cost and at volume. Mangrove Works' fleet of smart IoT receptacles pools them into lots buyers can bid for; a proprietary algorithm brokers each sale, the consumer earns a share, and the buyer collects the material. Value once wasted becomes the reason to recycle.
